| An aerial view of Limbang town |
Limbang is located in the north Borneo Island..in the Sarawak state of East Malaysia.
It's just a small town by the Limbang river and if you look at the map, it's right in the middle of Brunei..sticking
out like a sore thumb..
One good thing about small town is that life is just so peaceful..and Limbang is no exception. However, come Friday and
through the weekends..you could see the small main road jammed packed with cars from neighbouring Brunei that's either
on a stop over enroute to Kota Kinabalu (Sabah)..or just coming to shop here.
Thursday and Friday are the 'must see' days if you're around town. These are the days when there's 'tamu' or open
market. you could find all sorts of things from local produce, fruits, clothes, handicrafts and many more. If you want to
try food that's exotic to this part of the country, then you must try 'tahai' or smoked fish.
Limbang is also a stop over for tourist bound for the Mulu National Park. It's an alternative way to go to Mulu via flight
from Miri. From Limbang, you can choose to go by land on what they called 'The Headhunters Trail'. It is a few hours walk
from the last camp site in the interior of Limbang to the Mulu National Park.
